Direct all your complaints to us at nickbromberg@yahoo.com and we'll try to have some fun. 1. Kyle Larson (LW: 3): When a guy gets his second win of the season and it vaults him to the top of the points standings there's no excuse to not have him at No. 1 in Power Rankings. He said he didn't have the race's fastest car either. That honor went to Martin Truex Jr. "Seemed like whenever [Truex] wanted to get the lead, he hit a nitro button and would cruise up to the lead, then check out," Larson said. "He was the class of the field. "I thought [Kyle Busch] was next best. [Matt Kenseth] was better than I was on the long run. I thought we were probably a third‑ or fourth‑place car. To come out a winner, it makes it that much more exciting, I guess. 5 news foundNASCAR If you're one of the people looking for a rivalry to spice up the Cup Series, you're walking around your house looking for your car keys while they're in your left hand. Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski added another chapter to their longstanding rivalry during Saturday's Xfinity Series race when Busch went into the wall off Keselowski's bumper just seconds after the race began. As Busch started first, he darted ahead of Keselowski and the rest of the field. But as Keselowski peeked to the high side around Busch as the two cars prepared to enter turn 1, Busch moved up to blunt Keselowski's momentum. But he did so fractionally late. As Busch slid up the track, he made contact with Keselowski and his car turned into the wall. It was an incident that was simply one of them racin' deals. There was nothing dirty or premeditated about what happened. Busch was defending his position and did so ever-so-slightly late because Keselowski didn't lift. But the actions of both drivers is a big reason ... ...Read more NXS Rogers (R), was Carl Edwards' crew chief in 2016 and started 2017 as the crew chief for Daniel Suarez. Rogers started the 2017 season as Daniel Suarez's crew chief but took a leave of absence from the team in March for undisclosed personal reasons. Monday, the team announced that Rogers would be its new Xfinity Series technical director. JGR fields three cars in the Xfinity Series. "I really appreciate the support I've received over the past couple of months allowing me to take care of what I needed to in my personal life," Rogers said in a statement. "This position really excites me and I'm looking forward to working with [Joe Gibbs Racing Vice President Steve deSouza, our crew chiefs and everyone in our Xfinity Series shop on all aspects of competition." (Getty) So much for any thought that Darrell Wallace would be the sole driver of the No. 43 until Aric Almirola returns. Richard Petty Motorsports announced Monday that Billy Johnson would pilot the No. 43 at Sonoma on Sunday. Johnson, who primarily drives sports cars, has much more road racing experience than Wallace does. "It is going to be awesome. It will be my first NASCAR Cup race and to debut in the 43 car, one of the most iconic numbers to ever race in NASCAR, is a huge honor," Johnson said in a statement. "Richard Petty Motorsports is a great organization. To have the chance to make my Cup debut for the King is surreal, and I appreciate them putting me in the car. "I have run a lot of Xfinity races, but this will be my first Cup race. It is awesome that RPM and everyone at Ford Performance has the confidence in me to take on Sonoma. I have run pretty well in the Xfinity road course races I have done, so I hope that ... ...Read moreNASCAR • The quality of racing at Michigan International Speedway isn't what it once was. The two-mile oval located not far from where NASCAR manufacturer stalwarts Chevrolet and Ford are located in Detroit used to be one of the most important races on the Cup schedule. While the track doesn't have the cachet of a Daytona or Darlington, its layout was the perfect place for teams to find out who has the best combination of handling and horsepower. And what better place to do it than not far from the Motor City. The track's location hasn't changed, nor has its length or banking. But the quality of racing hasn't been what it once was since the track was repaved in the 2012 season. And the lack of Cup Series racing quality is hurting Michigan's standing. Repaves, as many NASCAR fans know, are inevitable. Even more so in a state like Michigan where temperatures can exceed 90 degrees in the summer and dip below zero in the winter. Such temperature swings take a toll on asphalt's durability. The ... ...Read more-

14 news foundNASCAR CUP SERIES Kyle Busch moved up a spot to third in the points standings at Michigan. (Getty) There's no guarantee that a lack of late cautions at Pocono and Michigan would mean Kyle Busch is a two-time winner in the Cup Series in 2017. But it's worth wondering if Busch would have been in victory lane at least once if it wasn't for the yellow flags. A week after he lost the lead after the final restart of the race at Pocono, Busch was leading with 22 laps to go when NASCAR threw a caution for debris in turn 2. While second-place (and eventual race winner) Kyle Larson was catching Busch at the time of the caution, he held a comfortable lead of over a second at the time the yellow flag flew. Much like he did at Pocono after Kasey Kahne's brakes failed entering turn 1, Busch stayed out on the track during the caution flag. Unlike Pocono, where nearly the entire field behind him hit pit road, 13 cars stayed out along with Busch at Michigan. (Getty) Kyle Larson took the lead away from Kyle Busch on a restart with 15 laps to go and held off all challengers on two ensuing restarts to get his second win of the season at Michigan on Sunday. Larson beat Chase Elliott to the finish line just like he did in 2016. Larson sprinted away from Elliott in August at the two-mile track to get the first win of his career. After Martin Truex Jr. won the first two stages of the race, Busch had the lead with 50 laps to go following a caution for Ryan Sieg's spin. But Busch's 1.5-second lead over Larson was erased with over 20 laps to go because of a debris caution. [Full race results from Michigan] The low line on starts and restarts had been horrible all day. But Larson side-drafted Busch perfectly on the restart after the debris caution and swiped the lead heading into turn 1.
